Our Thanksgiving Day Plans + Recipes

Before I dive in, let me set the scene of how I’m writing this. Today was my sleep in day so I woke up about 30 minutes ago, threw some laundry in the wash, turned my wax warmer on (with a Christmas scent obvi), filled a glass with chocolate milk and moved over to my desk. As someone who religiously does all blog and school work in bed, I am so dang excited about this change of scenery. It really is the small things lolol.

ANYWAY. This is my fourth Thanksgiving with Peyton so this year we’re switching it up a little bit. Typically, we would spend the entire day of Thanksgiving at my parents and then the day after with his family. When we’re with my parents, we wake up and deliver meals to the homeless with Gobble Gobble Give, go back to their house for dinner and then we usually start Black Friday shopping after driving around to look at lights. On Friday, his grandparents host a big Thanksgiving dinner and then we hang out with his family and go to Opryland to see the lights.

This year is going to be a little bit different. My aunt and uncle are hosting this year, so my parents are going to South Carolina. P and I were so excited to go, but working at a boutique gave me other plans for Black Friday and the drive is just too long to be there for one day. SO, adult decision here, we decided to have our own little day since this is our first holiday engaged. We’re going to house-sit for my parents and cook for Gobble Gobble Give (while watching Christmas movies OF COURSE), then come back and have our own little turkey dinner before going out to look at lights. On Friday we’ll go over to his grandparents after I work Black Friday, but it’s going to be sooo nice to have our own little holiday and I’m so excited!!!

That being said, neither of us have ever cooked for Thanksgiving (other than sides) so I’ve been researching the best fool-proof recipes and wanted to share them with y’all bc DANG they look good!

APPS:

  • You can bet your bottom $$$ I’ll be making these Pigs in a Pretzel on Wednesday so that we can have something to snack on while cooking Thursday ;-)

  • I think I’m making these Crab Stuffed Mushrooms to take on Friday and my mouth is watering just looking at them.

  • Also considering this Garlic Butter Tuscan Shrimp Dip…I’m not sure why, but I’m definitely leaning towards a fish-based app to take?

  • We went to a wedding earlier this month that served Cranberry Brie Bites…absolutely don’t trust that I will successfully make these, but I’m going to try anyway!

HEALTHY(ER) SIDES:

DESSERT:

  • Italian Wedding Cookies — not at all a //fall// dessert, but my fam has the best recipe and it’s P’s dad’s favorite sooo I’ll be collecting those brownie points LOL

  • PECAN BARS…I think my mom big-time adapted a recipe bc I can’t find one anywhere that involves a box of cake mix, but I really don’t think it’s possible to go wrong here. They are SOOO good.

THAT’S IT FROM ME! Hope you have the best Thanksgiving weekend surrounded by those u love <3
