Let's Talk About Guns

12 years ago today, my uncle was murdered. While that may be a personal reason to hate guns that not everyone can relate to, the 306 other families who are affected each day can relate. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)'s data shows that 91 Americans are killed every day with guns. 7 of those each day are adolescents. With 12,000 murders from firearms each year, America’s gun homicide rate is more than 25 times the average of other high-income countries. My uncle, a man who was loved by everyone who knew him, was shot on his way to work by a felon who should not have had a gun. Talk to your representative and share one of many, many heartbreaking gun violence stories to encourage them to modify the second amendment. Don’t wait for someone you love to die to make a difference.
