The Read House / Chattanooga, TN

Since we were in Chattanooga for our save-the-date-without-a-date photos, Peyton and I figured we would make a weekend trip out of it! Chattanooga is only about 2 hours from Nashville, but we have basically been home since March (pandemic life) with the exception of one short trip so it was nice to have an excuse to stay (and to not have to drive through the mountains in the dark).

I first heard about The Read House when we started planning our wedding. They have several ceremony and reception areas on-site and after reading reviews and seeing so many beautiful photos, we knew we had to stay.

We stayed in the Historic Tower section and had the best time. Considering how extravagant the Christmas decorations are, the history of the building and the fact that our stay included complimentary gingerbread cookies and champagne, it was so affordable.

The hotel is about 15 minutes from Lookout Mountain (mainly mountain roads) and within walking distance of several restaurants and convenience stores.

The Read House is a perfect winter escape and seems like it would also be so fun in the summer — honestly, I would recommend using any excuse to stay there. We loved our view of the mountains and the food was incredible. They are also so welcoming to your furry family members!
