Remembering Kate Spade

This morning, Kate Spade was found in her Park Avenue apartment. When my phone went off with a text from my bff who is interning in NYC that simply said "Kate spade what the fuck," I waited for another text with a picture. I was sure that she had just scored a new bag from the Madison Avenue store that we've spent hours in, and she was just wanting to show it off. A few minutes later, I received a notification from the news app on my phone. I never got a picture of the new piece I figured she was excited about adding to her collection. She was only 55 years old and seriously did so much in her life---I am so grateful that I was able to find and love her work while she was here, and now I will love it even more.

before I start talking about my favorite pieces, I want to leave the national suicide prevention's phone number in case you need to talk to someone: 1-800-273-8255

I bought my first Kate Spade bag 6 or 7 years ago at a Kate Spade outlet store in Florida. I think it was a Charles Street Kenton and it was the deepest purple (aka my favorite color at the time). It was in October and my parents had taken my friend and I to Florida for fall break so that we could go to Universal's Halloween Horror Nights. Right after buying the purse, I bought a Chanel lippie (bc apparently I was determined to spend allllll of my money) and then my mom and I got into a huge argument in the mall because I noticed a mysterious stain the size of an ant that looked a little too similar to my mom's lipstick. I still have that bag somewhere at my parents' and I still use it to sneak candy in the movie theater because it's the perfect size/boxiness for it.

Since scoring a Charles Street Kenton for around $85 (I had saved up birthday + allowance money and I was sweating at the register because I kept thinking about how much money that was...LOL).

In high school, my mom bought me a Cameron Street Gabe wallet that was about the size of my hand, and I have since bought the same style religiously each August for school. It is teeny tiny and has just enough room to hold my ID, cards + cash and it has a keychain to hook my keys to. I am horrible about keeping track of a purse, so this saves my butt at school and around town--I literally just have to carry a wallet around.

I have more outlet bags than I can count, the best go-to wallet, years of planners and a badass padfolio, quirky bookmarks and the happiest New York City memories.

I love the fun quotes that decorate the walls of Kate Spade stores and I love how cheery I feel when I look at her pieces. I guess what I'm trying to say is that Kate Spade holds a very big piece of my heart and always will. She was the first designer I ever purchased a bag from, and years later she is still one of my favorites.

I wanted to include some of my absolute favorite current styles (separated by vibe). her clothes deserve a whole separate post, but I only own a few dresses so I don't think I'm qualified enough to write that post! what are your favorites pieces?
